The half-round gutter collects water from the eaves of a pitched roof and carries it to the outlet and the downpipe. Modeco roll-forms it in the developed widths 250, 330 and 417 mm: the smaller width for canopies and smaller roof planes, developed width 330 for family houses, developed width 417 for the larger catchment areas of agricultural and commercial buildings. The whole system — gutter, brackets, outlet, pipe, bends and stop ends — is supplied in the same RAL colour.
Hanging roof gutters and rainwater downpipes made of metal sheet are covered by EN 612: the standard defines the terminology, shapes, dimensions and requirements for manufacture, not the calculation of capacity. The sheet the part is roll-formed from is continuously hot-dip galvanised steel Z275 (275 g of zinc per m², both sides) to EN 10346, with a factory-applied colour coating.
The brackets go up before the gutter, with a fall towards the outlet; the bracket spacing and the amount of fall are set by the installer according to the length of the eaves. Gutter joints and stop ends are riveted and sealed in the direction of flow, and on long runs a point for expansion has to be allowed for, because the sheet lengthens in the sun. A galvanised gutter must not take water from copper surfaces — copper accelerates the corrosion of zinc.

Modeco makes the half-round gutter in three developed widths: 250, 330 and 417 mm. Developed width 250 covers canopies, garages and smaller roof planes, developed width 330 is the usual choice for a family house, and developed width 417 serves the larger catchment areas of agricultural and commercial buildings. The final choice depends on the catchment area of the roof and the roof pitch.
The standard pairing follows the outlets in the range: developed width 250 → Ø 80, developed width 330 → Ø 100, developed width 417 → Ø 120 mm. A gutter of developed width 330 therefore takes a Ø 100 pipe, and developed width 417 a Ø 120 pipe. The number of downpipes is determined by the catchment area of the roof.
Of continuously hot-dip galvanised steel sheet with a colour coating. The designation Z275 means 275 g of zinc per square metre, both sides, to standard EN 10346; standard EN 612 covers the gutter itself as a building component.
The half-round gutter has a half-round cross-section and standard brackets for developed widths 250, 330 and 417 mm; the square gutter has a rectangular cross-section — developed width 330 (9 × 6 cm), developed width 400 (11 × 8 cm), developed width 500 (12 × 12 cm) — and is made to measure. Both are made from the same galvanised sheet to EN 10346 and carry the water into the same round downpipe, the square gutter by way of a reducer.
