What the configurator can do, and what the design decides.
Can the 3D view give the final price of an agricultural hall straight away?
No. The 3D view gives the dimensions and an initial list of quantities for the discussion, but the final quote depends on the location, the structural calculation, the foundations, the panels, transport and erection. Only the written quote is binding.
What does “Live BOM” mean in the configurator?
BOM is a list of materials (bill of materials): from the dimensions entered, the configurator estimates the mass of steel, the panel area and the quantity of concrete and floor. That is an order of magnitude for budget planning, not a bill of quantities — the bill of quantities is produced only from the design.
Does the width of the hall in the configurator change the legal obligations?
Yes, in one place: checking of the design by an authorised checking engineer is mandatory for a span of 10 m and above, regardless of the floor area (Ordinance on Design Checking NN 32/14, 72/20, 90/23, Art. 3). A hall 12 m wide goes to the checking engineer even when it has only 300 m².
Does the hall from the configurator stay below the limit of 600 m²?
What is checked is the product of length and width: an agricultural building of up to 600 m² gross floor area receives a permit on the basis of a conceptual design (Building Act NN 155/25, Art. 62). A gallery or an office storey counts towards the gross floor area and can take you over the limit.
Does an unheated agricultural hall need an energy performance certificate?
No. Buildings that are neither heated nor cooled are exempt from the obligation of energy certification (Art. 13 of the Act on the Energy Efficiency of Buildings NN 155/25). As soon as heating is introduced, the obligation returns.
What does Modeco need for a quick preliminary review?

Official Engineering Calculation
Although the live BOM generator above gives you a precise overview of the quantity of material needed for the bare erection (steel, cladding), that calculation is NOT a final quote. A real engineering quote includes the structural calculation for the micro-location, the seismic stresses of the region, the cost of delivery and the cost of the erection itself by workers on site.
