Range

What we supply

A sandwich panel is an element made of two steel facings and an insulating core between them. From the Modeco range, PU panels 30 mm and 50 mm thick in RAL 7016 colour and a PIR panel 80 mm thick are supplied. Panels are listed as goods on request — the price is set according to thickness, quantity and specification, and is given with the quote.

Along with the panel itself we also supply everything needed to close the assembly. Screws are chosen according to the substructure: for a timber one, GTR W 6.4/7.0 in lengths from 100 to 140 mm are used, and for a steel one, GT6 SP and GT12 SP 5.5/6.3 in lengths from 90 to 150 mm. The penetration through the panel is sealed by a vulcanised EPDM sealing washer (4.8×16 and 6.3×19 mm).

For finishing joints and edges, the same programme provides:

  • Low-expansion PUR foam — gun grade 750 ml and spray 500 ml, plus a gun cleaner.
  • Adhesives and sealants: polyurethane adhesive and MS polymer in a 300 ml cartridge, plus acetoxy silicone.
  • Parapet flashings Type 1 and Type 2, wall abutment flashings with drip edge and recessed, and verge flashings.
  • Ridge flashings and flashings by developed width, from the 0–10 cm class to the 100–125 cm class.
  • Trapezoidal sheet T-18 to T-45 as the outer surface where a panel is not needed.

Technical specifications

Both facings of the panel are made of continuously hot-dip galvanised steel sheet in accordance with standard EN 10346, with a factory coating in a RAL colour. The λ (lambda) value describes the thermal conductivity of the core — the lower it is, the thinner the layer that achieves the same insulating effect. The values in the table are declared for the type of core; for a specific panel, the figure from its declaration of performance is authoritative.

The panel price is given on request. Reaction to fire is classified in accordance with EN 13501-1 and is stated in the declaration of performance of the specific panel. The core thickness is chosen according to the thermal requirements of the project.

Screw prices include 25 % Croatian VAT. The screw length must match the total thickness of the panel and the substructure, so the required lengths are confirmed with the quote.

How to choose a panel

Core according to fire requirements

When exposed to flame, a PIR core forms a charred layer and class B-s1, d0 is usually declared for it; a PUR core has lower resistance; mineral wool is non-combustible (class A1) but is heavier and insulates less well per centimetre of thickness. Classification follows EN 13501-1, and the declaration of performance of the specific panel is authoritative.

Core thickness according to thermal requirements

PU panels of 30 and 50 mm and a PIR panel of 80 mm are available from the range. The required thickness follows from the required thermal protection of the building and the prescribed calculation, which is carried out by the designer — a thicker core does not automatically mean the correct choice.

Span and load

The spacing of the supports, the snow and wind load and the intended use of the building determine which panel is applicable. Sizing depends on the span and the load — we check it for every project before the panel is ordered.

The substructure determines the screw

GTR W 6.4/7.0 screws (100–140 mm) go on a timber substructure, GT6 SP or GT12 SP 5.5/6.3 (90–150 mm) on a steel one. The screw must penetrate both sheets and anchor securely into the support, and the EPDM sealing washer must seal the penetration.

Details, joints and moisture

Ridge, parapet, corners and penetrations are dealt with using flashings by developed width and are sealed with PUR foam and a permanently elastic sealant. In unheated buildings a panel is often not needed — trapezoidal sheet with anti-condensation fleece is then used, with ventilation ensured.

Delivery and lead times

Panels are ordered in agreed lengths, so the delivery time is longer than for stock goods: 14-21 dan. Screws, sealing washers, foam and sealants are delivered within 3-7 radnih dana, and flashings and made-to-measure sheet within 5-7 radnih dana. We reply to an enquiry stating the area, thickness and core type with a quote within 48-72 radna sata.

Dispatch is from Đakovo. The delivery cost depends on the county, the weight and the dimensions of the goods and is shown in the basket after the county is selected. Panels are bulky goods and are not sent as a postal parcel — delivery is carried out by pallet or lorry transport, so access to the building site must be arranged in advance for unloading longer panels.

So that the quote is accurate at the first attempt, it is useful to state in the enquiry: the roof or facade area in square metres, the desired thickness and type of core, the spacing of the supports and the material of the substructure (timber or steel), the colour and the place of delivery. If a design or a roof drawing exists, it is enough to attach it to the enquiry.

What is the difference between the PUR and the PIR core of a sandwich panel?

In that case, instead of a panel, trapezoidal sheet with factory-applied anti-condensation fleece comes into consideration, with ventilation of the roof space ensured. The fleece is charged as a surcharge on the price of the sheet per square metre.
