The eaves flashing carries the water from the edge of the roof covering over the fascia board into the gutter or away from the wall: the eaves flashing under clay tiles and the single-sided eaves flashing for the eaves of a pitched roof, the parapet flashing (type 1 and type 2) for a flat roof, the window sill (window ledge) and the eaves flashing for terraces and balconies. All are made to measure in the RAL colour of the roof covering or the facade.
The sheet is steel S320GD, galvanising Z275 (275 g of zinc per m², both sides) to EN 10346, polyester coating 35 µm. It is folded on a CNC machine to a tolerance of 0.2 mm, so the profile repeats identically on every piece. The sheet standard guarantees the steel substrate and the zinc thickness, not the shape — the shape and the developed width are set by the customer.
The eaves flashing is set beneath the roof covering and the underlay membrane, with a fall into the gutter and with the pieces overlapping in the direction of flow, so that water from the membrane ends up in the gutter and not on the fascia board. The window sill needs a fall away from the window and upstands at the sides against the reveals; the parapet flashing covers the top of the wall with a fall towards the roof. It is fixed with screws or rivets, and the joints are sealed with an elastic sealant.
Questions and answers
At the eaves, beneath the first course of tiles and the underlay membrane, so that its front edge reaches into the gutter: condensate and water from the membrane then end up in the gutter and the fascia board stays dry. The eaves flashing is made of galvanised steel S320GD Z275 to EN 10346 with a coating of 35 µm.
The window sill is a sheet-metal ledge: it covers the wall below the window, has a fall away from the window towards the outside and upstands at the sides against the reveals so that water does not get into the facade. It is folded to the size of the opening on a CNC machine to a tolerance of 0.2 mm.
Type 1 is a simple cover for the top of the wall with a fall towards the roof; type 2 has a double fold at the edge — an additional drip edge that throws the water clear of the facade. Both are folded from galvanised steel S320GD Z275 to EN 10346 to the width of the wall.
