Pop rivets (blind rivets) join sheets where a screw has nothing to fix into or where the joint has to be low and smooth: joints in flashings, stop ends and gutter corners on the gutter, sheet overlaps on the facade. The range: aluminium rivets for galvanised colour-coated and aluminium sheet, stainless steel A2 for aggressive environments (near the sea, industry), copper for copper sheet.
Rivets are supplied according to the manufacturer's declaration; the sheet they join is S320GD Z275 to EN 10346. The trade rule: the material of the rivet is chosen to match the material of the sheet so that the joint does not become a galvanic pair that accelerates corrosion.
The hole is drilled to the diameter of the rivet through both sheets, the rivet is set from the visible side and pulled with the tool until the mandrel snaps; on the water side the joint is additionally sealed with MS polymer. An aluminium rivet on galvanised colour-coated sheet is the usual joint; a steel or galvanised rivet on copper causes corrosion, so copper takes a copper rivet. Rivets in the colour of the sheet stay visually concealed.

Because copper and zinc form a galvanic pair: in the presence of water the zinc on the rivet and at the edge of the hole corrodes rapidly. Copper sheet takes a copper rivet, galvanised sheet Z275 (275 g of zinc per m², EN 10346) an aluminium or a stainless steel rivet.
On the water side, yes — with MS polymer around the head and along the overlap, because a rivet does not seal itself the way a screw with an EPDM sealing washer does (4.8×16 and 6.3×19). On the dry side and in overlaps outside the flow of water, sealing is not needed.
